It’s that time of year again where Santa Barbara lights up like a Christmas tree to celebrate its Spanish history! You put on your brightest fiesta gear, grab your friends, and hit the town! It really doesn’t matter where you go, it seems that every corner has some sort of Fiesta celebration going on. Whether you are a bar person, El Mercado, De La Guerra Plaza or even the Rodeo there’s something for everybody.
However, in the midst of this sweet intoxication, the fun, the music the eggs the confetti…. Are you really enjoying and taking advantage of what you are so enthusiastically taking part in? Are you really appreciating this gift of a whole town coming together in fun and frenzy? I mean, who doesn’t like Mexican food, tequila shots, margaritas and cowboys!? Or dancing girls for that matter?? Yet, isn’t there some part of you thinking “Wow! Fall is right around the corner. Which means the holidays are coming! Which means … Oh my gosh! Who am I going to invite to come home with me this holiday to help cushion the ever so growing and sometimes awkward, family holiday celebration?” It’s so easy to get wrapped up in the fun of fiesta, but are you truly missing out on looking for something more?
This Fiesta don’t just enjoy the festivities but remember to look around you because I truly believe that sometimes, in the midst of celebrating one occasion, you miss out on something else! You don’t notice the person standing right next to us. That person who quite possibly could be your Mr. or Mrs. Right. You’re at that time of year again when people start wanting to have somebody special by their side, so while you still have a few more weeks of summer, some sunshine, warm nights and that ever so golden skin, take a deep breathe in and look around you. Take a little of your summer into your fall.
Sometimes the best gifts life gives you are sitting right in front of you, and it’s yours for the taking if you open up your eyes, heart and soul and embrace it.
Let Fiesta be a time of fun and celebration, not only about this gorgeous town we live in but, let’s celebrate the love that is here too. Smile at that person across from you, say hello to the person in line ahead of you at the churro stand… make this the best and most memorable Fiesta you have had yet to date. Part of the fun of meeting that special someone is the story of how you two met. That Love Story is the story you will pass down to your grandkids!
Be safe, be well and Viva La Fiesta!!

Viva la fiesta y viva la romance! I agree that festivities are best enjoyed when they’re shared with someone you love!
